Autumn can be confusing for combination skin. By lunchtime your forehead and nose look shiny, yet your cheeks feel tight after cleansing. It feels like your face needs two different routines at once.
It usually doesn't. Combination skin simply has more active oil glands in the T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) than on the cheeks. In autumn, cold wind outside and heated air inside dry out the cheeks first, while the T-zone carries on as usual. And when skin feels dry, it can look oilier, because the surface is out of balance rather than truly "too oily".
Why heavier isn't the answer
The reflex is to treat the shine with strong cleansers and the tightness with a thick cream all over. That often makes both worse: harsh cleansing leaves the cheeks drier, and a rich cream on the T-zone can feel heavy. What combination skin usually likes is light hydration everywhere, and a little extra only where it is needed.
One light layer that suits both zones
The Beauty of Joseon Calming Serum Green Tea + Panthenol is a lightweight serum that absorbs quickly without a sticky finish. Green tea extract brings antioxidant care and helps calm skin that feels stressed by the change of season. Panthenol (pro-vitamin B5) helps skin hold on to moisture and supports the barrier, which the drier cheeks will appreciate. Hyaluronic acid and allantoin add hydration and smoothness, while centella asiatica and mugwort soothe. It is light enough for the T-zone and comforting enough for the cheeks.
How to use it
Cleanse gently with lukewarm water and pat dry.
Use your toner, if you have one.
Apply 2–3 drops to the whole face and pat until absorbed.
Follow with a light moisturiser. If your cheeks need more, add a little extra cream there only.
Use morning and evening. In the morning, finish with SPF.
Small habits that help
Skip harsh, squeaky-clean cleansers, even on the oily parts.
Blot shine with a tissue during the day instead of washing again.
Let your routine follow the weather: a bit more moisture on cold, windy days.
If breakouts, flaking or irritation don't settle, talk to your GP or a dermatologist.
Balance rarely comes from fighting your skin. It comes from giving each zone what it needs, gently and consistently. You'll find the Calming Serum and other autumn picks in our October collection.
